Nitrile N.I.
Nylon Inserted Nitrile is a commercial grade black rubber sheet with a smooth plate finish. It is available in shore “A” hardness of 60 durometer and can withstand temperatures from -20 to +120°F (-28 to 48°C). Nitrile with nylon reinforcement combines rubber elasticity with the strength of the nylon insert. The nylon reinforcement provides an upgrade to better resist leaks in water, mechanical, flange and many other applications.
Nitrile, also known as Buna-N, is a popular synthetic elastomer that is manufactured from a copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene. This material is ideal for machinery gaskets and is perfect for those in and around oil and gas handling equipment due to its high resistance to oil and gasoline.
N.I. Nitrile generally has good resistance to oil and gasoline, good resistance to petroleum-based hydraulic fluids, good resistance to hydrocarbon solvents, and good resistance to alkalis and acids. This material is a great choice for gasket materials that will be in contact with hydrocarbons. The reinforced Nitrile rubber material is impermeable to fluid leaks and improves tear strength and dimensional stability, making Nylon Inserted Nitrile suitable for gasket sealing applications.
