Nitrile
Nitrile is a commercial grade black rubber sheet with a smooth finish. It is available in shore “A” hardness of either 60 or 70 durometer, and withstands a wide range of service temperatures from -20 to +170°F (-28 to 76°C).
Nitrile, also known as Buna-N, is a popular synthetic elastomer that is manufactured from a copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene. This material is ideal for machinery gaskets and is perfect for those in and around oil and gas handling equipment due to its high resistance to oil and gasoline.
Nitrile generally has good resistance to oil and gasoline, good resistance to petroleum-based hydraulic fluids, good resistance to hydrocarbon solvents, and good resistance to alkalis and acids. This material is a great choice for gasket materials that will be in contact with hydrocarbons.
