Natural Rubber
Gum Rubber is a natural, highly-elastic, fawn-colored organic rubber elastomer with a smooth finish. Natural rubber is also known as “gum rubber” and has a working temperature range of -40°F to +158°F (-40 to 70°C). It has a Shore “A” hardness of 40 durometer.
Natural rubber exhibits a number of positive characteristics including superior resilience, high abrasion and tear resistance, high tensile strength, good compression set, excellent electric insulation qualities, elongation and molding properties. Gum rubber material also creates a soft seal and displays good flexibility at low temperatures. Moreover, this elastomer has the ability to bond with other materials such as metal and is soft enough to conform to irregular flanges with bolt heads.
Our natural gum rubber is non-toxic, non-marking, and is resistant to water, acids, alcohol, organic salts, alkalis, and ammonia. Natural rubber should not be used in applications that involve petroleum derivatives or exposure to chemicals, solvents, or hydraulic fluids. It also has poor resistance to sunlight, ozone and oxygen.
